Barend Kellerman
Director Attorney
Barend Kellerman acquired his BA LLB degree from Stellenbosch University in 1997. He was admitted as an attorney in 2000. After practicing with the firm Kellerman Hendrikse Inc., from 2003 to 2018, he and Aimee Joubert established Kellerman Joubert Incorporated (now Kellerman Joubert Heyns Incorporated), in 2018, in Stellenbosch. He is primarily involved in the negotiation and drafting of contracts, corporate governance and compliance, company law, and the disputes arising from these fields, in the context of commercial litigation in the High Court, Magistrates’ Court, and private arbitrations. He also deals with aspects of constitutional law, sports law (especially collective agreements, agency contracts, and disciplinary matters, including doping offenses), and property law. He is admitted as an attorney in the High Court. He was involved in the Tygerberg Attorneys Association for many years and has served as Commissioner in the Small Claims Court in Bellville for many years. He also served as a director of the Cape of Good Hope SPCA, the National Council of the SPCA and serves as a co-opted director of the Association of Palliative Care Centres, as part of his service to the community.
Aimee Joubert
Director Attorney
Aimee Joubert acquired her BAcc LLB degree from Stellenbosch University in 2015. She was featured in the April 2016 edition of the Without Prejudice magazine as one of Stellenbosch University’s top final year LLB students for the 2015 academic year.
Aimee completed her articles at the firm Kellerman Hendrikse Inc. and was admitted as an attorney in February 2018. Aimee remained at Kellerman Hendrikse Inc. for one and a half years before joining Barend Kellerman to start Kellerman Joubert Incorporated (now Kellerman Joubert Heyns Inc.). Aimee has a particular interest in family Law, Taxation and Wills, and Estates.
Attie Heyns
Director Attorney
Attie Heyns acquired his BA Law degree from Stellenbosch University and his LLB from Unisa. He is admitted to practice as a solicitor in England and Wales and previously practiced as an advocate at the Cape Bar. During his time at the Bar, he appeared in various divisions of the High Court across the country as well as in the Supreme Court of Appeal and the Constitutional Court. He also acted as an arbitrator and mediator in commercial and sports law matters. Attie joined the firm as a director in 2020 and heads up the Ceres branch of the firm. He has a particular interest in commercial, contractual, and property matters and has extensive High Court and Magistrates’ Court litigation experience.
Michelle Lombard
Director Attorney, Notary & Conveyancer
Michelle Lombard an A-candidate who matriculated at Hoërskool Heidelberg in 2005, obtained her BComm LLB degree from the University of Stellenbosch in 2010. She was admitted as an Attorney in 2013, as a Conveyancer in 2014, and as a Notary Public in 2016. Michelle is passionate about people and property and joined Kellerman Joubert Heyns Incorporated in January 2021 as the head of the Conveyancing Department in the Ceres branch. “Property has the power to change a person’s life be it as an investment, commercial transaction or owning your own home”.
Angelique Le Roux
Associate Attorney, Conveyancer & Notary
Angelique Le Roux, originally from Gauteng, was a student of the North-West University’s Potchefstroom Campus from 2012 until 2017 during which time she obtained her LLB and Bcomm Entrepreneurial and Business Management degrees, as well as her Post Graduate Diploma in Education (Further Education and Training Phase). Pursuant to her university years, Angelique went on to become a Mathematics, and Economics, and Business Management teacher for High School learners after which she pursued her legal career by commencing her articles of clerkship at the beginning of 2020 at a law firm in Ceres. During her two years of articles Angelique not only took on the four required admission boards exams but the notary and conveyancing admission exams as well, all of which she passed with great excellence on her first attempt. Angelique has been admitted as an Attorney, Notary Public, and Conveyancer of the High Court of South Africa at the beginning of February 2022 after which she joined the Kellerman Joubert Heyns’ Ceres branch in July 2022 where she utilizes her skills in the Conveyancing Department, and also lends a hand and assist in the litigation department from time to time. Angelique enjoys new challenges and is an open-minded, thorough, determined, and diligent person who is driven by hard work and who is always committed to a greater goal without compromising on her values and ethical standards. Angelique has always been an ambitious, zealous, well-balanced, and versatile person. She enjoys relaxing on her porch while appreciating the scenery of the valley after a hard day at the office. In her time off she enjoys baking, crocheting, reading, watching an intriguing drama, exploring nature, and spending time with her husband, dogs, family, and close friends.
Laura Ashley Light
Associate Attorney
Laura Light acquired her LLB degree from Stellenbosch University in 2019, whereafter she served her articles of clerkship at Kellerman Joubert Heyns Incorporated. She remained at Kellerman Joubert Heyns as an associate attorney after she was admitted as an attorney of the High Court in February 2022. In addition to assisting director Barend Kellerman, Laura’s practice involves commercial dispute resolution and transactions, private arbitrations, High Court and Magistrate’s Court litigation, property law, contract law, insolvency law, and general legal advice. She plans to specialize in insolvency law, an area in which she developed a specific interest.
Jacques Michael le Roux
Associate Attorney
Jacques Michael le Roux obtained his LLB degree from the University of South Africa in 2016. He completed his articles at Kellerman Joubert Inc., under the mentorship of Barend Kellerman, and was admitted as an attorney in August 2020.
In 2021, Jacques entered the B-BBEE field, where he worked as a Senior B-BBEE Auditor until 2025. In June 2025, he rejoined the now expanded firm, Kellerman Joubert Heyns Inc., to lead the newly established B-BBEE department. In this role, he provides expert B-BBEE consultation and advisory services across all relevant sector codes, including Ownership structures, and offers strategic guidance to help companies comply with B-BBEE legislation and achieve their desired B-BBEE ratings.
Chelse Petersen
Attorney & Conveyancer
Chelsé Petersen completed her LLB degree with the University of South Africa in 2016. In 2017, she furthered her legal education at the School for Legal Practice (L.E.A.D.) at the University of Cape Town. She then completed her Articles of Clerkship at Faure and Faure Inc., in Paarl, under the mentorship of Christie Viviers. After successfully passing her Board Examinations, Chelsé was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court in November 2020.
It was during her time at Sandré Marais Inc. that she discovered a passion for Property Law which led her to pursue and pass the Conveyancing Board Examinations. She was admitted as a Conveyancer in October 2024. Shortly thereafter she joined Geldenhuys Jonker Inc., as Junior Conveyancer, during which period she crossed paths with Michelle Lombard. Inspired by their shared enthusiasm for Property Law, she was delighted to join the Conveyancing Team at KELLERMAN JOUBERT HEYNS INC. where Chelsé continues to thrive and embrace her passion for her work amongst intellectual and skilled professionals. Her greatest ambition is to help people from all walks of life to achieve their goals, whether it be buying a home or gaining an investment for their future. She does so by providing excellent service and support whenever possible and by cultivating connections that grow into lifelong professional relationships. Chelsé strives to complete smooth and successful property registrations regardless of the complexity of the matter.
